Founders'Day 2024

21st September, 2024

A very special day, we celebrated the vision of Mr. Shiavaxsha and Mrs. Hirabai Batha. The vision is none other than our wonderful school. An institution that has, is and will continue to impart excellent education at low cost.

Mr. Shiavaxsha and Mrs. Hirabai Batha were an ordinary couple who decided to settle in Panchgani for health reasons. Where others would have simply enjoyed the good life, they realised a need for educating young girls not only to be good wives but also earning members of their family. This was 102 years ago….

They called it Young Zoroastrian Women’s Home, they created a lovely and safe environment within their own house where parents willing sent their young daughters to be educated. A Home which was also a school.

Today NEP 2020 has added vocational subjects to school curriculum. Our school used to teach vocational subjects like tailoring, cooking from the very beginning.

We have ex-students who are doctors, engineers and businessmen but do not advertise this. The school has and will quietly and humbly continue the mission of our founders.

The lamp lighting is symbolic of the light of education lit by our founders more than a century ago which has been kept burning brightly by our current Trustees.

The program, a singing gala was unique as each and every student participated. It was a promise to all, that we shall never ever allow our country to fall, we shall always strive for our country to progress to greater heights.

India is a great and diverse country. We attained freedom and became a democracy in 1947, lakhs of people were part of the struggle to free our country from British Rule. Lakhs of people are today part of the struggle to preserve this freedom. Today was tribute to them, a salute from us, an acknowledgement of all those who have passed and all those who will pass protecting this great nation.

Inter House Singing Competition (Std. V to X) was held. Naoroji House with their superb rendition of ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ was the undisputed winner.  Pre-primary and Std. I to IV also presented patriotic songs. Though voices were untrained, there was no mistaking the pride and emotion, the depth of feeling in each note.
